The End But The Beginning

It's finally the end of the Best Self Six Week Challenge. And while I didn't get crazy results and got sidetracked due to some personal circumstances, I think this is a great start to getting into a routine that will ultimately get me to my goals. I already noticed little changes, like less of a belly lol. My weight is a little less than I started but right now it's around the same with the usual fluctuations of like 2, 3 pounds. I'm taking every bit of the loss as a win! Especially when I look back and see where I came from. I still have another 13 pounds or so till I reach my goal weight. I still have more body fat to lose till I'm at my goal percentage. Maybe I can find a ticker for that lol.

I view these past six weeks as a great starting point. And the end of this is really just a beginning for me. I'm still working a program. I've changed my program a few times and I've actually found one to stick to. I'm doing Lee Labrada's 12-Week Lean Body Trainer. It has cardio and weights. And I'm not too intimidated by the weight workout it has me do. And I think by now, I can find - and have found - some alternatives to certain exercises and machines I can't do. I'm working my way up to those, like pull ups. I can't quite do those; all I can do is just hang there, flailing lol.

On top of those workouts, I'm back to trying to run a 5K - a goal that I gave myself when it came time to New Year's resolutions. I thought my cardio had declined since I didn't do a fair bit of running lately, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I find that I had no problems with week one of the app, but I'm still adjusting to week 2. I think this 8 week program is going to take me more like 16 weeks lol. But I'm okay with it since it's getting me to my goal!

I've also been cognizant of my eating choices. I have come to realize prep is important. Especially for me, since I snack quite a bit. I use my prep time to make my snacks and breakfast. I'm trying to stop with the empty calories (although I might indulge a cheat treat once a week or so). I'm trying to make the most out of the calories I'm putting into my body.

And since I'm doing so, I'm also paying more attention to my supplements. I'm doing my usually daily multi-vitamin and the occasional iron pill (I know I should do more than the occasional, but I just hate that is makes me feel nauseous). But I've come to add in some fish oil and CLA to get my Omega 3s and 6s. And I am adding in some fiber supplements since I feel like I don't really get enough fiber. I'm looking at it like adding protein to my diet, since I already know I don't get enough of that. I looked at my macro-nutrients and I don't hit my protein mark unless I do add protein. I'm currently experimenting with some recipes to make some protein snacks so I don't get so bored. Maybe I can add some fiber solution to it.

I have come to love this 6 week challenge. I think I need more of these little 6 week challenges just to keep me on my path. It's been really gratifying and helpful. It keeps my eyes on the prize. I know I should be dedicated without it, but sometimes, I let it fall to the wayside, but I don't want to anymore.
